Our Story

Our Mission

Our mission at Grout Brook Outdoors is to bring passionate outdoorsman and women high quality gear that supports conservation and restoration causes in the water systems we hold so dearly. At Grout Brook Outdoors, 10% of our proceeds will be donated to Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation District and designated to specific projects including the restoration of Grout Brook, Skaneateles Lake, and surrounding Finger Lakes. Please read more information about our efforts with Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation District.

SWCD has a long track record of securing funds and providing assistance to reduce erosion and protect water quality in our area. Their new Grout Brook Watershed Initiative has specific backing for restoration and conservation efforts that we look forward to aid in funding. Recent harmful algal blooms in Skaneateles Lake, have created increased awareness and support for activities that reduce nutrient and sediment loading to local water bodies, especially the Finger Lakes. We will support SWCD as they continue efforts to work with communities to reduce erosion in stream corridors, right-size culverts, protect streambanks, and create buffers.

Additionally, Cortland County SWCD has sponsored multiple conservation education programs for our youth in Cortland County and surrounding schools. The educational programs include Spruce Up America, Cortland County Envirothon, New York State Envirothon, Conservation Field Days and the Water Festival. Grout Brook Outdoors and Cortland County SWCD support these educational activities to foster interest in the environment and how to better care for it.
